Just checking in with whomever is still out there...our counseling sessions are going okay and my practicum log is slowly accumulating hours.  Hope everyone had a nice spring break! 

Spring Break!

I'm so relieved that spring break is just around the corner!  Our counseling sessions are flowing smoothly and the girls are doing great!  My assignments for all three classes are caught up but still need hours to log for practicum...Hope everyone has a restful spring break!  Be safe ya'll  :)    

I finally got my autobiography posted!  It took me almost 5 hrs to get it done and still it could of used some more work!  Glad it's over..

Our first counseling session with the girl group in 3rd Grade went great!  We got to know a little bit about each other and am ready to get down with the real issues in the classroom.  Can't wait to see how it goes with the 5th Grade group!   

Ready for the challenge!

We have been busy preparing for our first small group counseling session with 3rd and 5th grade girls.  I am excited to be doing this but also worry about the outcome.  I will be doing this group session alongside another teacher and feel relieved that we get to do this together.  I know our hands will be full but are ready for the challenge!

Troubled teens

I was wondering if we could earn some practicum hours observing in a group counseling session of troubled teens if our counselor ok'd it. Does anybody know?

I know there is something I should be doing...

This week has come and almost gone in a flash.  With all of the excitement with the snow, I have neglected to look over my assignments for this week!  As I looked over my calendar, I was relieved that I didn't have anything due yet (I tend to procrastinate just a little).  But I still worry that I should be doing something because it's not normal for me to be going to bed so early... 

Thinking of the little ones

I am at my first teachers' 1st Grade Conference out of town in Austin. It has definitely been an experience so far.  I have learned many new strategies for my struggling learners. I have found many nice reading books and puppets for half price! It has been nice to not have to be in the classroom, but not a minute has gone by that I haven't thought about my students and how much grief they probably gave their substitute ;)

Can anybody tell me what to use to log hours for practicum?

Hello everyone!  What kinds of things are you doing that is helping you accumulate hours for the practicum log?  I know we were supposed to start logging hours last week, but I have no idea what things to use towards that.  Does anybody have any suggestions?

Introduction

This is my fourth semester in Graduate School and am hoping to complete my plan by the end of summer.  I am from San Angelo and am pursuing a degree in Guidance and Counseling.  I have an interest in working with forensic psychology and am hoping that I can use my experience to eventually work in this field.  I have two wonderful children who are nearing the end of their college career as well.
